And the Beet goes on…

Well, summer is almost over, and just like our garden that is now bursting with kale, tomatoes, herbs, and kohlrabi, we’ve had a lot of growth throughout the season!

Fall is full of big plans for the Beet.  After getting all our members, new and old, warmed up with our plans for fall through a workshop on Friday Sept 16th at 3-5 in the Wesley Foundation, we are hosting a Welcome Back Dinner on Weds, September 28th (more details to come) that will be just the beginning of… our weekly dinners!

The Wesley Foundation at WMU (located near the flagpoles) has generously offered their kitchen for us to prepare our weekly dinners in, and we will be transforming their dining hall into a welcoming cafe atmosphere!  Complete with artwork, books, a genuine fireplace, and games — scattergories, catchphrase, hungry hungry hippos — what could be better?

We’ve been busy creating a kickstarter to help fund all of our future endeavors, along with  seeking out other fundraising opportunities.  Keep an eye out for our kickstarter debut in the very near future!

We will need a lot of help with these huge undertakings, so that means we will also be busy recruiting!  Come visit us…

About The Campus Beet

The Campus Beet is a registered student organization at Western Michigan University trying to organize and develop a student-run sustainable cafe. We aim to source more local and organic food and serve more vegetarian, vegan, gluten free meals while building a space for student art, music and culture. We have weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 7PM in the Bernhard Center dining room if you would like to help.
